1. Clean and tidy the property
Purpose: The tenant should feel comfortable and familiar.
- Clean the apartment in general (floors, bathroom, kitchen, cupboards).
- Clean the windows and shutters.
- Remove unnecessary items or old items (e.g. shower curtains, rusty taps).
Tip: If you can't do it yourself, call a cleaning crew.
2. Make minor repairs (low cost)
Purpose: The tenant should not be burdened with damages that are not attributable to him/her.
- Replace burnt-out bulbs.
- Apply silicone to sinks, sinks and showers that are in poor condition and will be a burden on the property itself.
- Check knobs, switches and sockets.
- Make sure that the doors and windows are securely locked.
- Repair leaking flushes or taps.
Tip: Small expenses (<30€) prevent bigger problems.
3. Keep the compartment neutral
Purpose: The prospective tenant must be able to imagine themselves in the space.
- Remove personal or old items.
- Paint with neutral colours (white, beige, grey) and clean spots with stains.
Tip: Neutral spaces look brighter and more spacious.
4. Check facilities and functions
Purpose: Avoid complaints and expenses after the rental.
